 Chocolate Kiss Peanut Butter Blossoms

 

A favorite of children and adults alike...
 

1 ¾ cups 

 

flour

 

½ tsp 

 

salt

 

½ cup 

 

brown sugar

 

½ cup 

 

smooth peanut butter

 

2 Tbs 

 

milk

 

1 tsp 

 

vanilla

 

1 tsp 

 

baking soda

 

½ cup 

 

granulated sugar

 

½ cup 

 

shortening

 

1 large 

 

egg

kisses, unwrapped

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except kisses. Blend very well. Shape dough into balls using rounded teaspoonfuls. Roll balls in sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven. Top each cookie immediately with a kiss, pressing down firmly as cookie cracks around the edges.

If possible, place in freezer until kisses harden again. Otherwise, let sit for several hours in a cool place until kisses firm up.

 

Yield: 3 dozen

 

 Cooking Tips

*You can easily make this a Christmas cookie by rolling the PB balls in red and green sugar.
